If We Open (2022 - ongoing)
single-channel video, stereo sound 19’27”
If We Open is an spatial-experimental project that was set in a public coastal area of Nha Trang, Vietnam, encapsulating the changing of light during sunrise on an early morning of 2022. The video work is split into two halves. The right-hand side shows the figure of a woman peering into what one can assume as the intersection between the sea and the sky. On the left, we see 6 Rubix cubes loosely arranged into the shape of the crucifix. As the cubes rotate over time, the color squares become altered. In the end, the sun fullyrises, illuminating the woman and her surroundings, but we never reach the solution for any of the Rubix cubes on the left side of the screen. If We Open decides to leave viewers witha cliff-hanger, which at the same time serves as an invitation to contemplate (the illusion of) completeness, changes, motions, and possible interpretations of our relations with thematerial world.
